A ‘everything for 99 rubles’ sale turned into a nightmare for local residents, who plunged into a deadly stampede trying to grab a pair of cheap sneakers.
The owners of Sport Centr, a sports store in Kizlyar, attempted to delight shoppers with a special deal — all items were priced at just 99 rubles. That included tracksuits, sneakers, and much more. News of the promotion spread quickly, prompting chaos and a crushing crush at the entrance.
According to staff, those who managed to get inside began hauling out everything they could: sneakers, other merchandise, and even the fridge door used for drinks. The store representatives confirmed that, due to the frenzy, all goods had to be given away for free. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, but employees say there were moments when shoppers could have suffered injuries. Inside the store, shelves and displays are now shattered. The owners are calculating the damages but vow to continue operating despite the incident.
